My Dollshouses - Starting Afresh

I have been collecting and yes, playing with my dolls houses for many years. It was a hobby I shared with my mum and we spent many happy times making plans for the mini houses and visiting dolls house fairs, then cooing over purchases and making little extras. Sadly all this stopped when I lost my mum a couple of years ago and since then the houses have been left neglected. At the beginning of this year, I decided I had to make my mind up whether I was going to sell and clear out the houses or keep them. Well I couldn't sell them, too many good memories and most of the ones that were mine were presents from people I cared about who are no longer here, and my mum loved hers so much that parting with them just seemed wrong, but that's where the problem lay. There were so many memories tied up in my little houses of my mum that just opening them brought tears. So I needed another solution and this is the result. I thank Kat of Kat the hat lady fame for renewing my interest in my dollshouses. I have allways loved fantasy themes and allready had a Wizzards Tower and Halloween has allways been a favourite holiday. In 2009 when looking for some new halloween stuff on ebay I came across Kats witches hats and so the idea of creating a witches hat shop slowly devoloped in to this, the formation of Witchery Grove, a home for all the magical beings in my head and a new life for my dollshouses. From the beginning of the year I've been slowly emptying all the mini buildings so most are now just basic empty rooms and I am going to complete redo them with other themes. I've decided to go with a witchy village theme, so the houses will be base around fantasy ideas. Without mum, I guess this blog will now be the place to mull over ideas. For the first time in ages I've started to feel excited and happy making planes for the little buildings again. I've already got a little collection of witchy items from eBay and many of the other things I already have will also have a new life, thought maybe in new settings and houses to there previous positions. Some of the items that no longer fit in with my new themes will gradually end up on eBay at some point. It's not going to be a quick make over, things take me time now, but I'm hoping it will be a fun journey and I'm sure my mum will be somewhere having a great laugh at all the new little ideas.
